DEVIL'S FOOD LAYER CAKE
Ingredients:
1 1/8 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
3/4 c. cocoa
1 1/8 c. boiling water
1 1/4 c. margarine
2 2/3 c. brown sugar
4 eggs (unbeaten)
2 1/4 tsp. vanilla
3 3/8 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Method:
1. Let the milk and vinegar stand at room temperature.
2. Let the boiling water and cocoa cool.
3. Put in large bowl the butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla and beat for 2 -3 minutes with a mixer.
4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
5. Add the water (with cocoa) and milk (with vinegar) together, then add alternately with the flour mixture.
6. Pour into pans and bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 40 minutes or until well done.
