SANTA'S CLOTHES:
Santa Suit:
1. Sew shirt front and back together at shoulder seams.
2. Sew sleeves to shirt along armhole seam and sew underarm seam
up each side of shirt and down sleeve in one continuous seam.
3. Fold under 1 inch along right side of shirt front and press.
4. Gather neck and sleeve edges.
5. Sew pant pieces together along center front and back seams.
6. Fold so seams are in center and sew inseams in one continuous seam.
7. Gather bottom of each leg.
8. Cut four 3 inch pieces of red ribbon.
9. Loop each piece and pin ends to top edge.
10. Right sides together and loops sandwiched in between, sew top of pants to bottom of shirt, overlapping
left front edge of shirt over right to fit pants.
11. Turn right side out and place suit on doll.
12. Pull gathers to fit around neck and tack in place.
13. Tack front of shirt together.
Suspenders:
1. Cut two 12 1/2 inch pieces of 1 inch elastic.
2. Insert one end of elastic in front ribbon loops from front to back and sew in place.
See the step 11 illustration.
3. Cross suspenders in back, insert ends in back loops, and sew in place.
4. On the back, sew or glue braid around elastic to cover stitching.
Belt:
1. Cut a 1 1/2 x 22 inch strip of red fabric. Fold in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch long edge and one end.
2. Turn to right side and attach gold buckle to unfinished end.
3. Place around waist, covering seam, and fasten buckle.
Finishing Suit:
1. Pull gathers around sleeves to fit wrist and knot thread.
2. To make the cuffs, cut two 1 1/2 x 7 inch pieces of red and white stripe fabric with the stripes
running along the 7 inch side.
3. Fold under one end 1/2 inch.
4. Fold sides to center and place over gathers at wrist with ends at outside edge of arm.
5. Place folded end over raw end and sew in place.
6. Sew a white button at end of cuff.
7. Pull up gathers around pant legs to fit top of shoes and sew in place.
8. Cut two 1 1/2 x7 inch pieces of white felt.
9. Starting at center back, wrap each piece around legs at top of shoes covering gathering line.
10. Sew or glue in place.
Moustache:
1. Gather around lower lip piece.
2. Roll a piece of fiberfill into a lip shape and place in center.
3. Pull up gathers and stitch edges together.
4. Hot glue lip under sculpted lip.
5. Roll a piece of fiberfill into a mustache and sew under nose.
Hair & Beard:
1. Tack fiberfill around mouth, on sides of head, around ears and on back of head, covering seam line.
2. Tack a small wisp on center top of head.
3. Sew fiberfill to back of head to make it rounded and to cover neck of shirt.
4. Tack beard to front of shirt.
5. Tack ears to side of head if they stick out.
Hat:
1. Follow step 2 to draw a 14 inch circle onto newspaper. Cut out pattern.
2. Fold circle in half twice to form quarters.
3. Cut out one quarter and discard the remaining paper.
4. Use the pattern to cut one hat from red fabric.
5. Cut a 1 x 18 inch piece of white felt and stitch top long edge to bottom edge of hat.
6. Turn felt up onto right side of hat with seam line rolled under.
7. Fold hat right sides together and stitch back seam.
8. Turn to right side and sew a white pom pom at point of hat.
Santa Bag:
1. Fold top 12 inch end of burlap over 1 1/2 inches twice.br>
2. Fold in half lengthwise with folds on inside and stitch side and bottom.
3. Turn to right side and fill almost full with fiberfill.
4. Glue miniature toys in top.
Santa's List:
1. Cut a 2 1/2 x 8 inch strip of posterboard.
2. Write "Santa's List" at the top and roll up bottom.
3. Glue to hands.
4. Glue pipe in mouth.
