Materials: 1. Worsted weight yarn - 1 (4 oz.) skein of white, 1 oz. grey, few yards of black 2. Crochet hook size G 3. Embroidery floss or yarn for features: black, hot pink 4. Scraps of felt: dark blue 5. Black "shank" type buttons for eyes 6. Polyester stuffing GAUGE: 4 sc = 1'' Body: With white, beg at bottom, ch 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc)6 times - 18 sc. Rnd 4: (Sc in each of 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times - 24 sc. Rnd 5: (Sc in each of 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 8 times - 32 sc. Rnd 6: (Sc in each of 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 8 times - 40 sc. Rnd 7: (2 sc in next sc, sc in each of 4 sc) 8 times - 48 sc. Rnds 8-22: Work even for 15 rnds. Rnd 23: (Work 2 sc tog, sc in each of 6 sc) 6 times - 42 sc. Rnds 24-29: Work even for 6 rnds. Rnd 3O: (Sc in each of 5 sc, work 2 sc. tog) 6 times - 36 sc. Rnds 31 and 32: Work even. Rnd 33: Work 2 sc tog, sc in each of 4 sc) 6 times - 30 sc. Rnds 34 and 35: Work even. Rnd 36: (Sc in each of 3 sc, work 2 sc, tog) 6 times - 24 sc. Rnds 37 and 38: Work even. End off. Stuff body firmly; do not sew up hole. Head: With white, beginning at back, work as for body through rnd 6 - 40 sc. Work 8 rnds even. Rnd 15: (Work 2 sc tog) 6 times, sc in each remaining sc - 34 sc. Cut white. Rnd 16: With grey, work even - 34 sc. Rnd 17: (Work 2 sc tog) 4 times, sc in each remaining sc - 30 sc. Work 1 rnd even. Rnd 19: (Work 2 sc together in each of 4 sc) 5 times - 25 sc. Work 2 rnds even. Rnd 22: Sc in 3 sc, work 2 sc tog) 5 times - 20 sc. Work 1 rnd even. Rnd 24: (Work 2 sc tog) 10 times - 10 sc. Work 1 rnd even. End off. Stuff; sew up hole. |

Ear: Make two. With grey,ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 5 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working on opposite side of ch, sc in each of next 6 ch. Ch 1, turn. Sc in each of next 8 sc (tip of ear). End off. Sew ears to head. Sew head to body. Tail: With white, ch 1O. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaning ch. Ch 1, turn. Work 2 more rows of 9 sc. End off. Sew long edges tog. Sew tail to lower back of body. Foreleg: Make two. With white, ch 12. St st in first ch to form ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Work 3 rnds even on 12 sc. Change to grey, work 6 rnds even. Change to black, work 3 rnds even (Work 2 sc tog) 6 times. Work 1 rnd even. Sew up hole. Stuff legs to 1/2'' of top. Sew top flat; sew to side of body. Catch inside of legs to body. Back Leg: Make two. With white, ch 14. Sl st in first ch to form ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Work 4 rnds even. Change to grey; work 7 rnds even. Change to black, work 3 rnds even (Work 2 sc tog) 7 times. Work 1 rnd even. Sew up hole. Finish as for forelegs. Finishing: For wooly coat, thread a long piece of white in yarn needle. *Wind yarn end around finger 3 or 4 times, sew loops to body, then knot. Repeat from * every 1/2'' or so over body (leave bottom of body flat), white sections of head and legs, top of tail. Cut blue felt circles to go under eyes. Cut a slit in the center, slip shank of button through. Using a long needle and heavy thread, sew one eye to head, come out where other eye should be. String on eye; bring needle through to back of head; knot. Embroider hot pink mouth, black nose. |
