Red nylon net, 72 inches, 1/2 yard 6. 2 yards of 1 3/8 inch ribbon, lace edge, solid red in center 7. Floral wire, 28 gauge 8. Fern pins 9. Floral adhesive 10. Holly pick 11. Scissors, ruler, pencil Instructions: 1. With your thumb, press the center of the styrofoam disc to make an indentation to fit your candle. 2. Press a pencil into the indentation from the center to the edge - a channel to provide an air passage. This prevents the globe from turning black from the candle flame. 3. Wrap the disc with foil, pressing it into the channel. The foil prevents the disc from flamming if the candle burns down. 4. Pin a ribbon around the edge of the disc. 5. Apply adhesive around candle base and press candle firmly into disk where you made the indentation. 6. Apply adhesive around the bottom of the globe and press it firmly into the foam base. 7. Cut the net in half, making making two 9 inch strips. Fold each in half to form a 4 1/2 x 72 inch piece and gather folded edge onto a 28 gauge wire. 8. Twisting the wire ends, position the ruffle around the base of the globe. Clip off excess and attach ruffle to the top of the foam base with fern pins. 9. Repeat to make and attach the second ruffle to the top edge of the disc. 10. Make a 7 inch multi-loop bow with 6 inch streamers and attach to base of the globe with a fern pin. Insert a holly pick in the center of the bow. |
