To crochet the head, leave a 4 inch tail and ch 2. Use the tail to mark rnds. 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6) 3. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12) 4. Rnd 3: *2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * around. (18) 5. Rnd 4: 2 se in lst st, 1 sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 8 sts. (20) 6. Rnds 5-7: Sc around in each st. 7. Follow manufacturer's instructions to stiffen wings. Dip tail only of body in stiffener; dab stiffener on beak. Let dry, then sew head and wings to body. 2. Using three strands of black embroidery floss, make a small vertical straight stitch for each eye. Tie end of floss in a knot and pull to inside and take one stitch at each side. To end, exit at one eye and cut floss close to surface. 3. Make a hanging loop with sewing thread at the base of the neck. |
