You will need:
Materials:
1. White crochet thread bedspread weight; 100% cotton
2. Size 6 steel crochet hook
3. Polyester fiberfill
4. Black embroidery floss
5. Fabric stiffener

Miscellaneous items:
Large-eye needle, absorbent paper towels, plastic wrap, white sewing thread, old toothbrush, scissors, rustproof pins, plastic bowl, cardboard

Instructions:
Head:
1. To crochet the head, leave a 4 inch tail and ch 2. Use the tail to mark rnds.
2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6)
3. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12)
4. Rnd 3: *2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * around. (18)
5. Rnd 4: 2 se in lst st, 1 sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 8 sts. (20)
6. Rnds 5-7: Sc around in each st.
7. Rnd 8: (beak): Sc in 1st 8 sts, ch 2, 1 dc in same st, holding last lp on hook. 1 dc in next 2 sts, holding last lp of each on hook, yo and draw lp through all 4 stitches on hook, ch 2 and sc in base of last dc; sc in rem 10 sts around.
8. Rnd : Sc around, sk the 2 beak sts. Note: Carry the yarn beneath the beak. (18)
9. Rnd 10: 8 sc, 2 sc over carried yarn under beak, 10 se. (20)
10. Rnds 11-13: Sc around.

11. Rnd 14: *4 sc, 2 sc in next st; rep from around. (24)
12. Rnd 15: *Sc in 5 st, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around, sl st in lst st and end off, leaving a 12 inch tail to sew head to body.
13. Stuff head.

Body:
1. To crochet the body, ch 2. Do not join rnds, but mark the beg of each.
2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6)
3. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12)
4. Rnd 3: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next st; rep from * around. (18)

6. Row 34: Sc in 2 sc, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 1, sc) in 2nd dc of 3-dc, ch 1, sc in next sp, ch 1; rep from * across, sl st in last ch, end off.

Wings:
1. Make two. Leaving a 12 inch tail, ch 5; sl st to form a ring. Note. At end of each row, turn and sl st to 1st ch sp.
2. Row 1: Ch 3, dc in ring, (ch 1, 2 dc) in ring 3 times. (8)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, (1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in 1st ch sp, ch 1, 5 dc in center space, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch sp. (13)
4. Row 3: Ch 3, (1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in 1st ch sp; ch 1, sk next sp and 1 dc, dc in next 3 sts; sk 1 dc and next sp, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch sp. (11)

To Finish:
1. Follow manufacturer's instructions to stiffen wings. Dip tail only of body in stiffener; dab stiffener on beak. Let dry, then sew head and wings to body.
2. Using three strands of black embroidery floss, make a small vertical straight stitch for each eye. Tie end of floss in a knot and pull to inside and take one stitch at each side. To end, exit at one eye and cut floss close to surface.
3. Make a hanging loop with sewing thread at the base of the neck.
