Polyester stuffing GAUGE: 4 sc = 1'' Body: With green, beg at bottom, ch 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc)6 times - 18 sc. Rnd 4: (Sc in each of 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times - 24 sc. Rnd 5: (Sc in each of 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 8 times - 32 sc. Rnd 6: (Sc in each of 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 8 times - 40 sc. Ch 1 turn. 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 2 sc in each of 6 sc. End off. Sew to head. Tail: Ch 25. Sl st in first ch to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Work 2 rnds even. Rnd 4: (Sc in each of 3 sc, work 2 sc tog) 5 times - 20 sc. Work 6 rnds even. Rnd 11: (Work 2 sc tog, sc in 2 sc) 5 times - 15 sc. Work 15 rnds even. Rnd 27: (Sc in next sc, work 2 sc tog) 5 times - 10 sc. Work 10 rnds even. Rnd 38: (Work 2 sc tog) 5 times - 5 sc. Work 5 rnds even. Sc in next sc, (work 2 sc tog) twice. End off. Stuff lightly; sew to body. Foreleg: Make two. Ch 12. Sl st in first ch to form ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Work 6 rnds even on 12 sc. End off. Make 2 paw pieces for each foreleg, same as body through rnd 3. Sew paw pieces together with stuffing inside. Push paw into leg opening a bit; sew in place. Stuff leg to 1/2'' of top. Sew top flat; sew to side of body. Catch inside of legs to body to hold in place. Back Leg: Make two. Ch 14. Sl st in first ch to to form ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Work 8 rnds even on 14 sc. Make 2 paw pieces for each leg, working as for front paws, then work 1 rnd even. Finish as for forelegs. Foot: Make 4 pieces. Ch 2. Row 1: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1 turn. Rnd 2 and 3: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn each row. Row 4: Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in 2 sc. Row 5: Work even on 5 sc. Row 6: Inc 1 sc each side. Row 7: Work even on 7 sc. Row 8: Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in 3 sc. Toes: Sc in 2 sc; ch 1, turn. Work 1 row even. Work 2 sc tog. Ch 1, sc in remaining sc. End off. Make 3 more toes the same on remaining 6 sc. Sew 2 pieces tog for each foot. Pad with yarn scrap; sew into back leg. Sew top flat; sew to side of body. Catch inside of legs to body to hold in place. Front Feet: Work as for feet through row 3. Work 1 more row on 4 sc. Work 3 rows of 1 sc for each toe. Finish and sew on as for back legs. Finishing: Cut white felt circles a bit larger than eye buttons. Cut a slit in center, slip shank of button through. Using a long needle and heavy thread, sew one eye to head, come out where the other eye should be. String on eye; bring needle through to back of head. Hide knot in seam of eyebase. Make 2 nostrils: with green, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sew into ball; sew to head. With red, embroider mouth and nostrils. |
